About Nil to Mil

Nil to Mil is my attempt to chronicle our microstock* journey from nil to our first microstock $1 million.  Before you laugh, know that it can be done.  Microstock superstars Lise Gagne and Yuri Arcurs both make figures that put them well on their way to being microstock millionaires.  It can be done.  What it takes - we’re going to find out.

Nil to Mil is a site I’ve had in mind since I started microstock.  I am a statistics junkie and a data tracker.  In my mind, there’s a method to all of this microstock madness and if I can get to the bottom of it, I know it can be an amazing source of revenue for us.

“Us” on Nil to Mil refers to myself and my fiancee, Sarah.  We both shoot stock and I edit, keyword and upload it to the sites we’re members of (see: agencies).

Nil to Mil is very simple because my methods are extremely simple - all that matters to me is the income from these images.  So I have goals and I have results.   We plan to separate the goals into categorizes such as income earned per month from each agency, portfolio number on each agency, and percent of images accepted per agency.  This will help us track time spent, where we make and don’t make money, and how we want to proceed as this project goes.

Also on the top of the Nil to Mil site is our contact information.  This is especially important if you’re a designer or you are in need of specific commercial photography.  We are available to do whatever photographic work you need and we love to take great images.

* Note - when I say microstock, I really mean “stock agencies that will accept me” so if you see Alamy and want to tell me off for calling them microstock, don’t worry, I already know.  It’s just easier to type, like “he/she” - just pick one!
