BME in 12 days, onto $1k

Just a quick note, mainly for my own historical records. I passed my best month ever on Friday.  That’s a best MONTH in only 12 days with 16 left this month. I am already at $844.10 which is nearly $55 over my previous BME.  With Shutterstock and Dreamstime doing very well this month and Bigstock, 123 and Istock picking up just a little and even sites like GraphicLeftovers and 3dStudio just destroying all expectations, I’m going to FLY past $1000 this month.  It will be (obviously) the first time I’ve busted through that barrier.

I know keeping $1000 per month is going to be a high barrier to climb over, especially for the next few months, but getting there once gives me hope that I can keep pushing stock higher and can keep selling images people want.  I need to make this a viable and reliable income source and at $550 it’s not. At $1500 I can rely on $1k of that.  The higher I get, the more I can afford to rely on stock and understand where my money is coming from.

I’m off to shoot! I need more images in my own queue. I’ve been consistently pushing iStock lately for all my iStock lovers, but honestly my images and their tastes don’t line up.  I’m not going to change my workflow for one site, even iStock.  I’ll eventually get 1000 images online there but … it’s a process.  I can tell you right now that pushing images to Alamy helped me more in 1 month than all the iStock I’ve ever done.

NiltoMil is BACK and so am I!  Regularly blogging, regular uploading – it’s like the good ole days!

That is so great! How much are you uploading each month? and what site are you working on the most?

Thanks Melissa! I am uploading between 20 and 50 a month too often. I want to upload something like 80 a week but I never seem to manage it. Too many things going on. My ideal is 2-3 shoots a week of 2-3 foods, backlog of images, and editing as often as I find time for. Right now it’s just not enough – but when I do, I get great results!

I just finished a big push at Alamy that really helped. I’ve made almost $500 on Alamy this month, so that’s well over half my month income! I have to keep them fresh and updated. I think this year is going to be great!

I have same question! Do you upload same images on Alamy as you do to the other sites?

I actually limit which ones I sent to Alamy – not my “worst” stuff – but I do send almost all the same images to all agencies.

Wow. Congrats on the great month. Very interested to see where you finish up your month. Do you sell RF or RM on Alamy?

Matt, where can I find you on Alamy and/or istockphoto? I’m on about 12 stock agencies, Alamy included. I’ve been kind of lazy and would like to see your portfolio, just to gauge if I’m going in the right direction. :)
