I’ve made some healthy recipes, lost a few pounds and will keep shooting food.? I LOVE this job!? These images are all shot in the last week.? This is our 2nd, 3rd, and 4th food shoot.? We’re still learning but hopefully you like em!? Actually, hopefully stock photo buyers like em!

Nice, what kind of lighting setup do you use? I like 3rd and 4th. 1st and 2nd got a little to shallow DOF.

Nice and yummy. You seem to like rice. Are you Asian?

Hey Hon,

I am not Asian – I just like rice. A LOT. :D I have to eat something with all the meats I like to cook and honestly, mashed potatoes won’t be it very often. I lit these all sorts of ways – I’m still playing around to figure out what I like best. The general idea for me has been to light them from above – mostly one umbrella pointed at the ceiling from *some* angle. Generally I try and keep the reflections out and the color in.

It’s funny how we all like something different – the 2nd one is my favorite because of the shallow DoF and the perfect cut broccoli (not easy btw!). However, that person who told me to go to Salento site? That site is really hard to navigate. I put the bruschette in and I don’t like the light on that at all – I’m def. not going that way. The friselle has terrible light – I’m hoping to do much better than that and aim for more like http://www.mattphotographs.com

Very nice Matt, I agree with you and hope to go that way me too; also I agree the hard navigation for the site I suggest, My critique is about the the “too soft” (for my taste of course) light you use in the shots, I think adding a backlight will improve a bit sense of freshness. But I known the world is is full of differences….

I like the first one the best. Please keep us posted on your techniques. I’d like to do some food stuff, just don’t get anything near good enough to bother submitting.

I wish I liked to cook as much as you do! Most of my food imagery is raw. http://www.brookefuller.com/stock.html

You must use >11 aperture numbers for food. Good luck!
