Just a thought: What if having a lot of photos that do not sell lower your ranking on some sites and that continue uploading don’t change it much…. ?

hello:
I see you allready have a very big portafolio, but your earning are not that good for the amount of images you have on-line, if i where you o would concentrate more on quality or sales potential, becouse seem to me you are doing a great effort and investing a big amount of time just for very low reward.
I think trying to achive so many images is a week is just distracting you from what should be you real goal, that is to achive a good revenue per image.
That?s just my two cents of course.

I was reading this post with surprise, becasue in fact I did this very strategy last year!
From my experience, seeing that you are determined to do it full time and with the right amount of energy, you will succeed. I can assure you that usually growing the size of portfolio bring inevitably a growth of earnings.
The proportion of the growth is then obviously depending on the commercial quality of the images.
But I think you will do just fine. Good luck!

Regular submissions work for me, but my goal is just to have 100 pictures accepted by SS and DT and use all upload slots for IS. That plan doesn’t work for DT lately, but sales there are OK.

@Luis – your strategy is similar to mine. I will explain my “25 folders” strategy soon on the blog. It’s been great.

@Augusto – yes, illustrations are definitely a different strategy/number because of the time to produce. When I’m cranking for a full day I can do about 200 new stock images in a day. I know illustrators would love 20-50.

@roberto – thanks for the comment and the tweets!

@steven – no, I’m stuck with the lowest IStock limits because ISuck. LOL I KNOW I need to care but it’s hard to work up the giveashit.

@Robert – yes, 500 a month would be a huge jump for my folio (and hopefully earnings). If I can increase $100-200 a month, I’m always happy. More than that is cake.

@anon – you should’ve signed! I ain’t mad at ya. You’re right – who knows if I have the “right” strategy. I have the ability to produce a LOT of decent images fast. I’m not setup to produce the super-high quality stuff I need to. My strategy is slightly different – it’s to produce volume now, earn with that, and use those earnings to produce even better shoots. As far as IStock, I DO need to make a massive jump with them as well. But a few months ago I submitted 40. My gallery went up 13. That SUCKS. If I could submit more salable stuff to Istock of course that would help me but if I waste a lot of time trying to please the IStock Gods, where do I get the time to please the ones who already like me?

Just wondering whether your strategy is right, it seems like an awful lot of work for not a lot of return.

If I were you I would look at boosting the acceptance rate and salability on IS, I think if you can do that you can make the massive leap forward you want to.

Otherwise its the old “doing the same thing, expecting different results” ie a road to madness

Good luck with your latest target. Istock is a pain isnt it. Are you allowed more than 15 at a time? I am stuck on this figure but that is probably because i dont upload much these days anyway.
