Some time ago I wrote a post called “No Mas” and listed agencies I was quitting uploads to unless sales increased. Now I have new decisions to make.
Submissions History
2008: 1801 submissions
2009: 1505 submissions
2010: 970 submissions
2011: GOAL: 2000 submissions
So clearly 2010 was my worst year of actually doing stock work in the three years I’ve been serious about it. Yes, there were TONS of reasons for that but ultimately, I didn’t really work on stock this year. In 2008 I shot almost 35 weddings and still managed to do double the submissions!
Yes, this year sucked for me personally. I basically lost everything and started completely from scratch. When I left my business, my family and my life in …
I don’t post a lot of the agency PR that comes across my email box anymore but this one caught my eye especially given the holiday (and giving) season.
Shutterstock has funded new water wells in the Amhara region of Northern Ethiopia to provide clean, safe drinking water. They partnered with charity: water to bring the wells. The following is an excerpt from the story on this project. See the whole Press Release here. Good job Shutterstock!
Clean water pours out of a well and Muche Alemu laughs as he reaches …
Yes, this is an odd post by me but I do, indeed, want to be a reviewer for one of the micros. Tons of reasons, none of which includes this blog. I am looking for a decent reviewing job with plenty of images to review and decent money to be made. Nothing I see on the reviewer side will ever hit this blog. I’m not looking for a story – I’m looking for a job.
If your company is hiring reviewers, hire me! I have over 5 yrs in micro, a …
So I have a problem and I know it. I’m addicted to organization. How is this a problem? It means I can’t free flow and do the “right” thing – I have to do the organized thing. The way this relates to stock … (click read more!)
For those of you who still read on the site (and it’s a lot of you, surprisingly!) I’ve redone the look of Niltomil. I am making many more changes but wanted to get the site back online as soon as possible. The Agencies page has been updated and fixed. I will also be fixing the Income Results page as well as back-posting several old monthly earnings post including October 2010. I’ll have a full list of those posts once they’re all done.
The focus of NiltoMil is returning to earnings, tricks, …
Right now I am very behind on my stock work. I have been running around like crazy since before I left for my trip, then I had a 10 day trip to Florida to shoot a wedding. I just got back and have been flat out busy since. Once again, editing and keywording has gone by the wayside. I *really* need some consistency to gain traction.
In good news, I sold my first image on Alamy and profited $36.22 I’m pretty sure I have 6 months worth of some agencies that …
Just a quick question today – are you reading this post through RSS or directly on the site?
(Yes, I check my stats too – I want to know how accurate they are and what the reality is.)
If you could comment this one post and let me know how you view NiltoMil, that would help me going forward!
Thanks!!
Thanks to a few friends and well placed posts, I’ve had a lot of questions this month and last from photographers wondering about my new SEO for photographers business, PhotoSEO (thanks Flem, Todd, and all!)
It’s true – I’ve begun working on several sites for photographers to push their sites higher in the Google ranks. I wrote a page explaining most of my SEO business here.
How will this help you? If you don’t have a website, it won’t. If you’re a microstock submitter who simply shoots, keys and uploads, I can’t …
I have had a few comments and emails that my earnings post is missing – I know, sorry! It does only take a few minutes to write up but I’m starting my ENTIRE LIFE over, remember! No slack? I understand. Without further ado, results.
For September, 2010 my microstock income was $671.45. This was down from $692.76 in August. The drop came from Dreamstime (-20), 123RF (-15), and a few other random places. IStock had a BME (despite the news). Mostly buyers, though. I didn’t sell anymore than usual but referred …
