Can you still make passive income in microstock in 2012? Statistics say you can still make money in microstock photography.

Today will be my second shoot of 2012 already. Last year it took me until May to get through a few shoots so this feels good! Tonight I’ll be shooting a salad and steak. Healthy, happy … that’s my motivation for 2012!

Last year wasn’t about shooting or not shooting, though. I shot. I need to get to the next few stages as well. I’m still using Cushystock to push images and ProstockMaster for prep. I will have to see if I continue those things or

June 2011 was a fantastic month here at NiltoMil.  Actually, it was my second best month ever.  Now, for new readers – when I say ever, I joined stock agencies in 2006.  So I’m at about 55 months and though I didn’t really begin stock work until early 2008 (39 months ago) to have my second highest earning month ever is pretty fabulous.
The total for the month, though not another $1k month like February, was $847.04

This is a primer for new microstock photographers. Sometimes you have to understand where you can’t make money to know where you can.
I reviewed for an agency for awhile and learned some things.  Here are some observations from the inside.

Just a quick note, mainly for my own historical records. I passed my best month ever on Friday.  That’s a best MONTH in only 12 days with 16 left this month. I am already at $844.10 which is nearly $55 over my previous BME.  With Shutterstock and Dreamstime doing very well this month and Bigstock, 123 and Istock picking up just a little and even sites like GraphicLeftovers and 3dStudio just destroying all expectations, I’m going to FLY past $1000 this month.  It will be (obviously) the first time I’ve …

For those of you who still read on the site (and it’s a lot of you, surprisingly!) I’ve redone the look of Niltomil.  I am making many more changes but wanted to get the site back online as soon as possible.  The Agencies page has been updated and fixed. I’ve made many changes in the last few months to my microstock direction.? I went from mostly models over white and travel images to food.? It’s been a HUGE leap but one I think will be very successful after the results I’ve seen thusfar.? Now that I am back to work I’ve also eliminated and added some agencies.? After noticing the lack of roast beef sandwiches on Dreamstime and confirming with iStock the same, I decided to do a sandwich shoot.? I thought it would be my first “easy food” shoot.? I mean..how hard can it be to style a sandwich? 8 toothpicks and 2 frustrating hours later I can honestly say it’s WAY harder than it would appear.
