Work work work

NiltoMil News,The Microstock World         Comments Off

So far in 2009 I’ve done almost 8-10 hrs a day on some part of microstock or NiltoMil.? Whether blogging, editing, keywording or submitting I’ve definitely put in the hours.
So what’s the return?? So far, so good.? I’ve uploaded just over 100 new images to all 7 sites and had 70-95 accepted on each.? I also have 100 more edited images and will keyword them tomorrow morning.
I was a bit surprised by Shutterstock today.? I had a large jump in downloads but with that? many new images, on a Monday …

I’m pending…

 Challenges,NiltoMil News         Comments Off

My remaining agencies are now full-up pending.
123RF – 100 pending
BigstockPhoto – 100 pending
Dreamstime – 108 pending
Fotolia – 5 pending (haha!)
Istock – ok 0 pending
Shutterstock – 100 pending
StockXpert – 84 pending

So now the only thing to do is wait.? Wait and keep editing, keywording and readying more files.? Just as a bonus, I’ve created the wild horse image in 900x600px as a free download for personal use only.? If you use a larger desktop and want a larger wallpaper version leave me a comment and …

No mas! Quitting (some) agencies

Let’s see how well you know logos.? Who am I quitting?? Want to guess why?
Do yourself a quick favor and compare the Long Tail we’ve been discussing to the chart on the “Recent Results” page of my spreadsheet.
http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=pZEgM338rPYAiUQorCHGoYQ&hl=en
Now if you understand that I suck at Istock and just move on from there, if this were a Long Tail situation, I would have a few sales at one of the bottom agencies.? I would have fewer but *some* sales at a couple and I’d have nearly no sales but a couple …

Bottlenecking…again!

Challenges,Micro Tricks & Tips         Comments Off

I’m on a bit of a Power Week v2 right now.? I’m trying to find out how many images I can get uploaded in a week – from editing, keywording, uploading & submitting.
Here’s the issue – you run into bottlenecks, tie-ups – places that slow you down.? It doesn’t matter where that place is, somewhere along the line you will hit it if you’re fast enough.? Does anyone remember Power Week v1?? My bottleneck was not having enough images to process.? I could literally edit images faster than Sarah & …

And…we’re back! (Again)

Recently accepted image
Not only are we back, thanks to Google Cache so are most of our posts.? This time we have a harddrive backup instead of just online database backups.? New look to the site too – I’ve been working out bugs but let me know if you find anything that needs fixing.? I’m all about improvements so Im interested in your thoughts.
Back to microstock we go.? I recently submitted and had new images approved across pretty much every site.? Not many but something to start with.?? I landed …

Power Week v1 Ends

 Challenges,Monthly Results,NiltoMil News         Comments Off

So what happened?? Did I fail?? Why am I back already?
Well the answers are long & complex – I learned a lot the last 4 days though.? I? have submitted just over 400 images in 4 days.? If I kept going, I would have made a serious run at 1k?in 7 days so why stop?
The answer lies in my beliefs going into the challenge.? I believed that it was easier to shoot 1000 images than to take them from the camera to the stock agency.? I was wrong.? The single …

Power Week v1

 Challenges,NiltoMil News         Comments Off

I?m a chronic measurer.? I need to know how much, how long, how many, how can I?? I measure my speed editing weddings, I measure my speed editing a portrait shoot, I measure how many images we take vs. keep, how many we shoot at a portrait session vs. a stock session.? I measure EVERYTHING.? How long my cards take to DL, how long it takes LR to import them.? I can make better decisions if I have more information.
SO – one thing I have no information on is the …

ISuck … at Istock

When I announced my earnings last month, I heard a lot of feedback about my IStock performance and how it should be MUCH MUCH better.? I agree, but I still can?t get them to accept any of my images!? I have 700+ images on multiple sites.? I have 89 on IStock and have submitted 40 this month.? They took 8.? I?ve done my part for the last 3 weeks – 60 submissions (MAXED OUT) and 21 new images online.? That basically stinks.? It de-motivates me.
So I?m asking for help.? I …

Deep Meta – an Istock uploading tool

Micro Tricks & Tips         Comments Off

So, you?re using Image Manager to upload to IStock?
1) Shoot yourself in the head because it?s less painful.
2) Go to http://www.deepmeta.com and download the program.
There?s a reason I hated uploading to Istock – it was plain & simple a pain in the butt.? With a 20 per?whatever?limit, you never had a good way to know when to submit more, how many slots you had free, etc.
Deep Meta changes a LOT about the way IStock will work for me.? I can simple add images (not simple in IM – you had …

Demo-ing Cushy Stock

Micro Tricks & Tips,The Microstock World         Comments Off

So I read about this program, Cushy Stock, on Microstock Diaries.? I had heard the name in the past but thought it was just another agency (Shutterstock, Canstock, Bigstock, CushyStock) so I never investigated.
Well Cushy Stock is an application that will drastically speed up my workflow.? The gist of it is this:
1) You can navigate to your edited photos, keyword, describe & title them, set the status as ready to upload and then upload them to as many agencies as supports FTP at once.? Yep!? No more watching your FTPs …
